What is the Genset Panel?
Visually, a generator panel is a set of displays that show measurements of various parameters such as voltage, current and frequency, via gauges and meters. The gauge is mounted on a metal object, usually corrosion resistant, to protect against the effects of rain or dust. The panels can be mounted on the generator body itself, which is usually the case with small generators. When mounted on a generator, they usually have vibration resistant bearings that help isolate the control panel from shocks. Larger industrial genset panels can be completely separate from the generator set and are usually large enough to stand on their own. These units can also be mounted on a rack or on the wall next to the generator.
The generator panel is usually equipped with a button or switch that helps operate the generator, such as a turn off button or an on button. Switches and gauges are usually grouped by function. This makes the panel friendly and safe to use as it minimizes the chance of the operator accidentally selecting or executing the wrong controls.
Kinds of Generator Panel Types
ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch)
An electrical circuit that has a function as a switch that functions automatically when a planned or sudden blackout occurs, this panel will automatically work itself to move the power source from other sources, which generally use a generator engine.
AMF (Automatic Main Failure)
An electrical circuit on the panel that works automatically to turn off or turn on the generator automatically without being turned on by humans.
Synchronization Panel
Serves to synchronize the performance of 2 or more existing generator units.
PKG Panel
Actually it is almost the same function as the AC and DC generator panels, the difference is if the PKG panel is separated from the generator unit, whereas if the DC and AC panels are installed with the generator unit. As for its function, namely to operate the generator which includes starting, running, stopping, emergency stop and is equipped with good protection and monitoring, protection and monitoring of the diesel engine and alternator (generator).
